20 - 20 VISION

Last week I had an appointment with an optician
one that was new to me. I changed because of the
serious errors that the last one made.

I chose red frames as they are perfect for my temperament and skin tone.
Mrs. H liked them because they made a statement.

These are for reading and very like my old glasses.

I love the new red glasses, what do you think?

    1. Strangely the receptionist was a little disturbed at my choice, I can only think that perhaps she thought I was too old for gaiety ;-)

  5. perfect! Glasses are such an extension of ones personality and you've chosen aptly! Well done. They will excuse happiness, fun and mischievousness even when you aren't feeling that way.
People are typically so conservative with their specs like that safe pair of black shoes rather than the sparkly ones that made them feel alive.
    Love the shades too xx

  6. Hi Mel - well I'm glad you feel happier after your optician change ... those coloured rims do look good - handsome lad! I like seeing the different colours ... still can't quite get to grips with the thick rimmed ones ... but as I don't wear them except when I'm doing computer work or serious reading ... I can still manage - I'm lucky. The dark ones indoors make you look fairly spivvy ... a worry!? Cheers and enjoy the weekend ... Hilary

    1. Thank you for your comments Hilary. I have been wearing spectacles since I was forty-two. I blame years of producing fine line accurate drawings of engineering components - that is if any blame needs to be apportioned ;-)

  8. Oh Mel, this did make me laugh!!
I also chose red frames, for exactly the same reason! When I showed them to the optician (who had expertly steered me towards a more expensive display) he suggested that really that rack was for teenagers. My reply was that I felt like a teenager inside so they were just right. I love them.
Incidentally - I like the way you made the type larger towards the end of your post -rather like sitting in the optician's chair; I really had to strain to read the first few lines.

    1. Well, good for you in choosing frames to reflect the real you; I get really annoyed with the ageists who try to fit me into a dullness of their own making. On the other hand my gents outfitter sold me a pair of salmon pink trousers yesterday and not a murmur of dismay was uttered.

Oh dear me Pat and here was me thinking that I was unique !!!

Oddly the type face size does not change on my blog. So am mystified by your remark.

  9. Hello there!!
I would say that those frames tells a lot about you, the youth within, you know! Glasses is an issue for me as well and my eyesight has all but improved lately. I'm off today to at least get started. I wouldn't dare make such a bold choice as you have Mel, but I am glad that YOU did!! Sometimes we need to define or redefine ourselves, and there are many ways to do that, outer and inner. I love your posts and your comments, since I don't know you for real, they define at least an ounce of who you are, as do your poems! I agree with Weaver that some people love to define us by our age, making the world narrow!!! Go out there with mrs H and the lovely dog and shine!!!!

    1. Thank you FT, perhaps I understand why you cannot wear bright frames for your congregation and associate ministers might frown.
Unlike my druids who will only applaud me !

  10. I love funky glasses, so well done on selecting them-they look great Mel.
By the way I think Weaver of Grass comment on the font is because when you add captions to photos the font does come out very small-so it looks different to your normal post text...hope that makes sense!

    1. Ok right I had not realised that there was a text shrinkage on captions Suzie. In which case I will return to what I did previously.
Glad you like Funky so do I and Weaver too :-)
