Ireland Is

What does Ireland mean to me ?
To answer this question I must use an analogy, it is if I was an orphaned child seeking its Mother before I came here.

Prior to my first arrival in the Belfast area, in 1986, and then later that year after travelling down to Cork in July, there occurred what I can only describe as a mystical experience. She, who I call Mother Ireland, stepped silently into my inner core, where she still resides and continues to nurture my very essence for which I am very grateful.

I can tell you that there have been a few times since living here when I have been very ashamed of my birth country England because of its inhumane actions and deeds towards Ireland and the Irish people.

Such have been my experiences that I no longer have any desire to visit England and nor do I have any pride of place towards it.
For Ireland is my home. I do acknowledge that England is the country of my birth and I was educated there from childhood to be discerning.

So today this migrant looks back at England and the changes that have taken place over the years. That I see a nation skewered by authoritarianism and indignation that knows not how to care for all of its citizens. There appears to be no love or tolerance. These gifts seem to be so rare and generally misunderstood, instead there is a dichotomy of fear and punishment pervading the land of my birth. Perhaps it has always been present and I failed to recognise the fact?

If you are a migrant do you feel truly at home in the country of your choice ?

Togs on for the august Marriages !

The first same sex marriages in Ireland could take place as soon as August, earlier than originally thought.
The Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald has said she is conscious that people want to marry as soon as possible and she is working to make that happen.
Frances Fitzgerald
Fitzgerald promised that the necessary legislation will be enacted by the end of July.
However, she is to allow the 90-day notification of intent of a civil partnership to be converted to a notification of marriage.
This means anyone planning a civil partnership from August can instead get married.
“My intention is to seek Government approval for the Marriage Bill 2015 in June with the aim of introducing the Bill into the Oireachtas immediately thereafter so that the legislation can be enacted before the summer recess,” said Minster Fitzgerald.

A message from Lin

"Winter Solstice Rebirth"

I received this message from a special friend and I have had her permission to share
this with You.

OLD HIPPY MAXIMS
As above.......so below,
Macrocosm.......microcosm,
Turn on... tune in... drop out
Heads...          Freaks..... Go with the flow
We get stoned, on crystals.....megaliths.....mother earth
Give peace a chance
Attitude gratitude......Devotion
.................................................................
Old hippies, were in recovery. the 60,s.... you know
We are now recovered
We have got our 2nd wind
Riding the post 2012....
Wave of light.
In aquarian age, ascension, party mode.
......................................................
Then, we dropped out
Of, world we saw
Greed, poverty, negative emotions, male domination, power over....
Poverty, hatred, war, toxic medications, hatred of mother earth,  and women
SO
We created a new one. Turned on, tuned in , created
Organic farms, crystal healing, respect for mother earth and all our relations
Art, music fashion,, whole-foods shops, cnd, single mums, healers etc
Our musicians our prophets
Our inner voice, our guide
.................................
Cos we are aquarian age, ascension, forerunners
The crystal children, The rainbow warriors
hippies
Worked hard, to build the dream,
All our brothers , of fur feather and fin, joined in too.

Burnt out
.......................
Now we flow on the lightwave of 2012, ascending
We let the dying die,
Co-create, the new earth, the new body of light,
love, peace beauty truth, abundance,
Balanced in true love,
Soulmates of the inner flame
Ecstatic with joy, our dreams coming true
We turned the tide, earth is safe,
Still lots of light work to do
----------------------------------------------------------
Being shown, our Avalon phoenix,
is ready to take flight; she will be riding on the gentle
solstice dawn light,
her wings tipped radiant. orange, gold
As she takes flight.
I see her watch the light at mount kailish
Then flowing with the earth grid, catching dawn at each site, through Carnac ; Giza, glaston, as the womblike cairns, gavanis, new-grange,As ancient ancestors built for us,  so in time to remind us
They were the abodes of immortals, the beings of light, built to remind us, which way to go, aligned to let in the winter solstice light, to touch the spiralled stones,
you know, incase we got lost
to recover true humanity, in a world gone blind
She sings the song of creation,
Her gift to us this season,
to renew our humanity
In the ascension light,
she will fly on to Mexico
sit on the stone of the sun,, and sing the new creation, now
 being born

for mother earth, all our relations

....................................................
Lennon, song,
                                    Some say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one,
One day you will join us, and the world will be as one
...................................
So with this wonderful, gentle, new ascension wave
of winter-solstice light,
I wish you a
HAPPY SOLSTICE 2014
Happy hippy Lin

Variety the Spice of Life

Down to the Wood

I declare that it is now officially summer because we have had no rain for two days and as you can see my barber, Khalid, has me trimmed down to the wood.

The other evening after a very hectic and busy day I took a remedy to relax and chill myself out, it worked almost instantaneously; so much so that I asked Mrs H for a glass of chilled white wine and a Leonidas single dark chocolate, a CERISE EMBALLÉE which is :
A spicy marriage of cherry liquor and dark bitter chocolate. A whole morello cherry and cream liquor hides beneath a dark chocolate shell. Wrapped in dark red, this is a delectable mix of crunchiness and sweetness, enhanced by a cherry liquor taste.

The nearest shop is only 50kms away so it would not have taken her too long on her pushbike…
- but no !
Instead of satisfying my dream I was brought a large mug of our own chilled spring water followed by a big bowl of semolina with a good dollop of strawberry jam, suffice to say it did the trick.

Homemade Tarka Dhal

This evening the good woman has surpassed her self by cooking for us Tarka Dhal accompanied by Naan Bread, it was absolutely deliciously spicy and hot, shortly it shall be followed by fresh peaches.

A JOINT BIRTHDAY

My friend Ita and I share the same birthday and often have a joint celebration, I should stress that there are several years of difference between us, however that day is the 9th of January.

The niner's at play

OUR JOINT PARTY
Started at 3pm when our friends arrived some of whom where musicians and we partied away for 12 and half hours before falling into bed. It was a brilliant time of song music and dance; the nominated photographer slipped into the joviality and the consequence is that very few pics were taken.

Musicians in session
Charles on the harmonica, Seamus on the accordion
and Colm Mac Con Iommaire on the fiddle

Sean-nós dance is an older style of traditional
solo Irish dance and is a casual dance form.

A SECOND PARTY
Took place on the 12th January at 3pm for those who were unable to make the one on the 9th, this one was minus musicians and it focused mainly around a Storyteller who arrived and sat in the kitchen entertaining guests by the telling his tales for most of the night, similar to the first party this one went on till gone 4 in the morning!
I have gloriously celebrated my 70th birthday and am looking forward now to my 150th !

If I had any doubts this card sure told me

Ita and I wish to thank everyone who attended both parties, because we know that some of you travelled many miles from all over the isle of Ireland to be with us; our very special thanks and appreciation go to Mrs H whose organising ability astounded us !

A BIT OF BACKGROUND (about me)
A wonderful event took place in Birmingham City Children’s Hospital on January 9th 1943 at approximately 0520, the timing, place and date were unique for it marked the umpteenth rebirth of Me. Little did I realise at the time that a warm welcome heralded my arrival, for evidently several resounding blasts were heard in the locality.

These were caused by the Birmingham Blitz of heavy bombing by the then enemy (9 August 1940 - 23 April 1943). Overall, about 2,000 tons of bombs were dropped on Birmingham making it the fourth most heavily bombed city in the United Kingdom. Is it any wonder then that sound of a propeller driven plane flying at night has always awakened me?

Happier events though were around the corner when hostilities ceased and chocolate, biscuits and other goodies became available and better still, we departed from ‘Brum’ in 1946 to soft and sleepy Somerset.

February 14th !

A DREAM

A dream,

Is an early morning tide

Softly gentle waves caress

the slopes of a slumbering mind

As rolling pebbles call

memories ashore.

The 14th February a celebration for lovers - Valentines Day!

One can easily surmise that it is a day for youth, forgetting that the middle aged and the elderly also have love in their hearts and sweet memories that surface in dreams. For love and attraction belongs to us all!

Love Does

Love does

In flesh

Agitate

Parenthood's

of lust

Love does

in soul

Consummate

the spirit

Empirically

Love is

Oneness

In unity

Supreme

There are many types of love, shared by couples and none can define that one is better than another. I don't want to get serious on this Happy Day so I will leave you with a bawdy smile!

The APPLE and the KNIFE

Question not

fresh russet fruit

For I, this blade

Would pierce

Your tender skin

Letting your juices

run to air

or even lie wet

upon the ground.

Profanities may assail

from the family tree

But what cares I

For am I

not a blade, sharp

well honed?

And you

A fruit

well spun

lying in the shade

for collection?

Come leap dear

We need no Vicar!
