The Sensational Melissa Etheridge who I could listen to forever, though I do feel that she is unfortunately underrated for she is a very talented singer and musician.
I have a great many interests. Among them is writing poetry, taking photo's, the practice of T M and following a druid like path. What I am not nor have I ever been is subservient or fanatical. In the true sense of the term I am a free thinking person.

Never heard of her, but I do like this. I suppose this proves your point.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne and as my old mother who was in the entertainment business for awhile would have said 'Melissa is a real trooper'
DeleteVery nice! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda and yes she is :)
DeleteShe's OK Heron. I prefer Classic Rock music. Do you like Ireland's Crystal Swing or the Rubber Bandits?
ReplyDeleteCan't say that I have ever heard of them Dave.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite Irish musicians and singers Colm Mac Con Iomaire, Glen Hansard, The Frames and Kila; you might say I'm prejudiced, seeing as I know a few of them :)
There are of course several more but me memory for names never was much good !
There is an up and coming singer/song writer Mairead Furlong too.
Thin Lizzy and Clannad for me, Heron. Have a look at "Horse Outside" by the Rubber Bandits. Warning: contains bad language. Very funny though. Glen Hansard is good, especially in the film: "Once".
ReplyDeleteThanks for jogging my memory Dave :) Yeah Tin Lizzy as they say around here,
DeleteI was never smitten by Clannad.
Tbone Kelly now there's a character and a half ! Hawaian-Irish great musician, singer, chef and biker now living in France.
Incidentally Glen & Colm had parts in The Commitments , I suppose that's in the dark ages now :) ?
Yes Heron. Eric Bell (Thin Lizzy) apparently came up with the name for the band after reading a comic about a character called: "Tin Lizzy". I remember the Commitments. Didn't Roddy Doyle write it?

DeleteNever knew that Dave.
What I was actually referring to was the different way of pronouncing 'th' in Irish as opposed to that of English.
Ah, I'll have to listen to it when I have a normal internet connection. This is far too mb hungry for my very meagre dongle, but I'll look forward to it!
ReplyDeleteI hope that you enjoy the listening of her when you are able to do so Val.
DeleteShe's wonderful in concert - I was able to see her perform about 10 years ago. Although her music isn't something I listen to frequently, whenever I do see her in print or video, she makes me smile!
ReplyDeleteThanks Carol, am afraid I a fairly frequent listener of her music and that of KD Lang's too
