Travels from my iPhoto

I had this idea this morning of sharing some of my favourite photos stored in my iPhoto album and I hope that they give you as much pleasure as they do me.

Ollie moments before he was swamped!
(see previous blog)

The reeds of the river Shannon near Portumna in Co. Galway.
I like the way in which the light is reflected into the water and the rippled effect among the reeds.

Preparing my boots for winter prior to adding the dubbing.
This is the chair on which I sit and write.

The harbour at Kinvarra.
This is one of my favourite photos and it sits on my desk top, allowing me to create dreams about what might have been there voyages with actually knowing!

  1. Are those working boats? What are they called?

    1. No - they are privately owned gaff rigged yachts.

  2. Lovely peeps into your life, Mel. I love the reeds in the water and the yachts in your harbour. Very dreamy! It's great that you prepare your boots for the winter. I haven't hear of anyone dubbing their boots since I left the UK. Nice to be reminded of one of those tasks that is intended to preserve things. Good for you! I suspect most people would just throw them out through lack of maintenance these days - our consumer society being what it is. I like polishing shoes and boots :-)

    1. Thank you Val. Kinvara is a small attractive town just inside of south county Galway it is about two hours drive from where we live and a place that I am drawn to visit, for it has a special quality of light at times that strangely reminds me of Glastonbury.
Those boots don't actually shine up they remain matt no matter how much I try.

    1. Too right Kath !

And no time like the present especially with The Gathering going on as it is a special year for the Irish diaspora to make a visit and link up with relations & friends.

      Perhaps we can meet ?

  4. Lovely photos! The lights on the river, the cool blue of the water - beautiful colours and motifs. Leather needs fat - otherwise it breaks - so polishing is not only nice for the blink, but also necessary (but I don't have to tell you).

    1. Thank you for your comments Britta and you are so right about leather, it will keep for years providing it is fed regularly.
