In a moment of haste I deleted A Herons' View. That decision was probably caused by a cocktail of drugs that was administered to me by the anaesthetist prior to a procedure in a prominent Dublin hospital.
Never in my life have I ever been quite so stoned for such a long time, the hallucinations seemed to go on for hours on end and only truly ceased when Mrs H called in a friend to give me an extended reflexology treatment.
Oh bless their cotton socks! That really did work by returning me back to planet earth very quickly.
I mentioned my experiences to my GP who laughed out loud and said "Well Mel that's because we keep the best for ourselves !"
I suppose one good thing did come about though. I posted my stash of pipe tobacco to a friend - minus my pipe which I have been unable to locate - so that is the end of my pipe smoking days.
My treatment is not yet finished and I can foresee several visits more which I will try to keep a handle on without acting so rashly in the future.
Glad you are getting back to normal. They do have some wonderful stuff in hospitals. I quite like morphine with you own private epidural dosing machine. At home Dihydrocodeine 50mg and whisky has got me through a few knocks and scrapes.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are going to frame that hallucination picture and hang it pn your wall a) as a reminder and b) because it is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI've had some good drugs in hospital but never THAT good! I hope your treatment is going well and you won't be so stoned next time. Giving up smoking is always a good thing, no matter what ails you. I gave it up 30 years ago, thankfully.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been aware of a hallucination under anaesthetic (or other drugs) since the days when I was a youngster and had dental treatment when one was 'put out'. The results were rather 'interesting' but not ones I ever wanted to experience again. I'm glad that the blog is resurrected and that nothing was lost.
ReplyDeleteLoving the painting Mr heron, so colourful and lively... Must be the effect of a good foot treatment 😜
ReplyDeleteWere they good hallucinations? Can you remember anything? Lately, I wouldn’t mind disconnecting from reality. Hope all else is going well. You’re in my thoughts and I’m glad you’ve said goodbye to the pipe!
ReplyDeleteThanks for getting back to us!
ReplyDeleteWhat's up, I log on to your blog like every week. Your writing style is witty,
ReplyDeletekeep doing what you're doing!
I assume you know but if you want full functionality on Blogger you have to use Chrome or possibly some others, as a browser. Safari is very limited. Have a great Christmas. If you want to use free stuff then Linux is good but does throw up amusing little problems. Umbutu is Linux and pretty good. Don't just download it but split one of your drives and pop it there.
ReplyDeleteAs you have paid Apple for a posh machine you may not want to. I use PCSpecialist. They are cheap for a Mac purchaser. I can vouch for their service.
Have fun.
