SUNNY SUNDAY

We had ourselves a day out to Kinvara once again on Sunday. Because of the impending snowy weather, which I am not looking forward too and if it were in my power it would not be happening anywhere near me, we escaped to make the most of the good weather while it lasted.

The day was absolutely gorgeous with wall to wall sunshine
and not too cold either, just a little over 8 deg C.

A day of hardly any sea breezes, lots of parked cars and hardly any people.

This mosaic was adhered to one of the harbour buildings and she caught my eye,
this red haired woman playing a fiddle.

A motherly swan feeding on pinkeens (small fish) in the company of seagulls.

This was just a lucky shot - catching her with her head down in range of the camera!

There was something about this sloop, it kept catching my eye,
perhaps it was the reflection on the water or its snug berth?

I found out later that the occupants of most of the cars were tucked away in a local
restaurant listening to a jazz band, I was not tempted... for such sunny
weather in February is a rarity not to be missed.

Take care all of you and keep warm !

  2. Heron - that swan photo and the last one of the boat are spectacular. The lovely sunny weather is something to hold on to in one's memory over the next few days if it is going to be as bad as it says.

    1. Many thanks for your appreciation Pat.
I just hope that most of the Orange weather front will go elsewhere along with two days threatened blizzards !

  5. Such a beautiful place and I love that mosaic, too. But I'd be complaining about 8C. My blood has thinned!

    1. Hello Mitch good to hear from you 8C was a lot warmer than the 2C which it was when we left home earlier that morning and we were wearing thermals under our shirts :)

Thanks very much for the lovely pictures and comments, and so in keeping with your interests with the boat and appealling harbour scenes. Funny, watching the grace and beauty of the swans always make one feel uplifted ! I'm sorry to hear snow may be coming to your green island...but it won't last long. Today snow is melting a bit..and we don't have much for Manitoba this time of year....a nice week ahead gives us hope the past four months of deep winter may be weakening finally !! We won't have green until very late April or early May....but there is hope.

Good for you to get out there for taking those scenic and uplifting photos for us all. Thank you and keep that peat stove going !! A and I are really thinking a lot of our upcoming trip and holiday to Ireland and England in August..!

  7. Thank you for the comment Jack ! The Turf stove rarely goes out during the winter months whereas you get lots of snow and lower minus temps than us. We get lots of wind, frosts and icy rain that turns our "greeness" to a dry light brown during the winter.

  9. A glorious February day by the water...no wonder you were not tempted indoors, Mel! Too lovely! And you were fortunate that it wasn’t too cold!

    1. Quite correct Val.
What that day has done is to buoy me up for the weather that is threatened to follow, in other words a Strengthening Tonic !
