The Resident and the Regular Visitors

I have been taking a rest from blogging just recently firstly because of the difficulty that I had in posting up the last blog and secondly that I have been distracted by the political scene here in Ireland which is still not resolved; Enough though of that.

Better perhaps to  share with you some photo's of our hairy resident Toby and also of our regular visitors.

    1. Thanks for the comment Simon, I should add that they are perfectly safe from this peasant because he no longer eats poultry :)

  2. Hi Mel - that's what I was going to say ... oooh - 'peasants' in the garden - I have one in my freezer that I need to eat - I thought Easter sometime ... Blackbird I know, the finch .. what sort is that - I can't see?! ... 'peasants' I can do .. male and female ... as too Toby - he looks special and much fun ..

Elections - I pass on ... roll on a year - but life might be really awful then ... til then I shall get Knickerbocker Glory and relax ... well sadly can't have one of those, no ingredients to hand ...

    Cheers Hilary

    1. I can see that you are full of fun today, Hilary :)
You must have a large freezer to put a peasant in and have become a cannibal too. Does that actually fit in with the Easter message I wonder ??

The small bird is I think a Blue Tit, there again I might also be wrong, am sure some twitcher will correct me.

    2. Not that I could by any stretch be called a twitcher Mel but I do believe it be a 'mammarius grandiose' or Great Tit as it known to us peasants. Love the shots of the fur ball my man.

    3. Thank you putting me right John, all I knew that it was of the Tit family :)
The fur ball as you called him is about 4 stone in weight! So one of the larger fur balls...

  3. Toby looks very content. Pheasants are attractive but amongst the dimmest of birds

    1. Thank you Adrian. Yes Toby is content until he decides to go off courting then it is a different story!
Well, I can understand what you say about pheasants being dim, except that Cock Pheasant in the photo managed to avoid the hunters.

  6. Politics! Like watching a Freddy Krueger movie at midnight with all the curtains open! Just damn scary! Garden friends are so much better for the spirit!

    1. Yes Toni like Michell you are both right and yet politics can also effect the lives of animals and birds as per Monsanto products for example...

  8. Cute fluffy resident !
I am so envious of your clear and rather close up photos of the pheasants particularly. 'Our' pheasant still visits everyday and my mum spotted a female too (my guess is it was just a hooded crow) ;)

    1. Glad you like the look of Toby. I told him of what you said and he wagged his tail. Obviously you have made an old dog very happy :)
Those photo's of the birds were all taken through the cottage windows.
      Thanks for your comment Patricia.

  9. Hello Mel: I have been having a difficult time blogging too -though have put up posts but I feel I'm not telling my whole truth because of the political scene here in the US and how infuriated and embarrassed I am. Thanks for the happy photos!

    1. My problems with the technical application of the blog, in posting up photos, the written word and actually publishing the finished article became difficult. So much so I very nearly took my blog elsewhere.
Thank you for your observations Carol.

  10. I love your photos Mel! What a beautiful collection of birds! And Toby is lovely too. What do you work on, Mel? If you are trying to post on an iPad, I can understand your frustration. I've just read a blog where the writer says he has started using something called Open Live Writer, so maybe something to try.

    1. Hello Val! I use as always an iMac of the latest OS and never had any problems until recently, I do know that I am not the only person that has had problems with Blogger and one person was heavily criticised by blogger for their particular language style - so who knows eh ?
