For umpteen years this old cottage has been white all over. The place has been crying out for redecoration for awhile now;so this time we put our thinking heads on and have decided to added a bit of colour to the old walls: using Sheffield Green on the window cills and wall tops, Harvest Gold on the walls and White in the window recesses.
So here am I at the end of the first day taking my ease with my pipe in the evening sunshine feeling at peace with the world knowing that the paint scheme is working well.
We were delighted to find that Mrs H had unknowingly captured a band of rainbow beams
falling over the roof (top right of photo) for our place is known as Rainbow Cottage.
I just hope that the present dry sunny weather lasts out enabling us to complete our task.
Great color choices. I saw your rainbow, does that mean it's been raining while you painted?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment Janet.
DeleteNo definitely no rain or mist about yesterday and like today it is a blue sky and is so wonderfully hot. I have no idea why or even where the rainbow came from - unless it is a gift from the faeries do you think ?
How lovely. What hard work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joanne, yes hard work, very satisfying and worthwhile.
DeleteLovely colour scheme, nice photograph of you 'in your working finery'. It is a glorious day here today
ReplyDeleteso hope it is the same with you, then you can get plenty done.
Thank you Pat. I have always believed that denims were made for work and yes we have achieved much today for the weather is grand. With luck more will be done tomorrow when a friend with a ladder will do the high parts, as I am not allowed to go up them anymore!
DeleteOh Mel! It looks just lovely! You and Mrs H should be justly pleased with your efforts...you certainly look very contented there 😀
ReplyDeleteThank you Val. You are correct we are pleased with our colour scheme and yes I am generally quite contented :)
DeleteYou and Mrs. H did a wonderful job! How lovely and serene, and that rainbow is just magically perfect!! (And good to hear you're not doing the high parts - I don't want to have to worry about you)
ReplyDeleteO Heavens ! please don't ever worry about me for I was born with wings (Emu ones) that carry me along and downwards :)
DeleteWe have not yet completed our task it has to have a second coat in a few days time, for we are working under the direction of a professional decorator friend.
I just wish that the rainbow had become a permanent magical feature.
Oh its wonderful! I love it! I wish I was there having a chat and a cuppa now and look forward to visiting in a few months time. Well done to you both. xxxx
ReplyDeleteWe appreciate your graceful comments, Grace ;-)

DeleteOh the capture of the rainbow rays falling across your beautifully painted cottage is sheer magic... Magic is drawn to the two of you isn't it... well You did hard work too! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your generous remarks Gwen.
DeleteThe external walls needed to be recoated and this time we jointly decided to go for a colour that would fit in with the surroundings rather than usual white and it has worked.
The cottage looks wonderful grandpa heron, i can imagine the sunlight makes it glow, it will be even more welcoming than normal although that is also down to the occupants ..... ;)
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for your observations Snapdragon, you have a wise head !
DeleteYour cottage looks beautiful Mel, and I can see the rainbow crossing over the pic :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Maj, that's all the proof you need to know that magic happens here :)
