The back garden

It is 6.45 in the morning the temperature is -5C and when I tried to open the front door to take a photo it was frozen to the jambs.
Dawn has just arrived and there is one solitary Blue tit at the feeder.
The Wise Woman sleeps on!  I wish it were me however, once awake I have to get up as am unable to stay in bed for any length of time.

  1. Your wife is indeed a very wise woman, in fact I am typing this from my bed! I sleep in the forepeak, which is a bit like sleeping in a lovely cosy nest. Apparently by the end of the week we are going to enjoy temperatures of 3 degrees, positively Mediterranean!!! Keep warm x

  2. Such luxury Fran !
It has warmed up a bit now at 9 o'clock out doors it's -2C and indoors a cosy 20C.

WW is now up and had her first coffee, what's more she has been to the fuel shed for a creel of turf, because today she will be ensconced in the back room writing her book.

  4. Am not certain that age comes into the equation , it all comes down to whether the home is sufficiently insulated as to how well or not we cope with the cold.

  5. The photos of the yard and birds and of the baking in the past couple of blogs seem to promote a feeling of warm and cosy inside and uncomfortable chill outside. Lovely photos.

    1. Thank you for your observations and you are quite correct it is very cosy indoors, especially helped by having smallish rooms and stout doors.
