Goldfinches & Signs of Spring

Goldfinches feeding

Privately I refer to these as small parrots!

The Barbary type plant is leafing on it's
lower branches.

(in certain lights the standing stone is shaped
in relief of an owl)

Daffodils a definite sign of Spring

  2. oh my I am loving this... birds, flowers, green grass. I will never complain of mowing grass again... I might just let it grow tall, green, lush and waving in the breeze.

  5. You are way ahead of us, my daffs are not opening yet and the crocus are only just forming flower buds. The goldfinches are lovely, have you tried to teach them to talk yet? X

  7. Here in the Yorkshire Dales our daffodils are only just peeping through the ground.
But the birds are singing. We have masses of goldfinches, but they seem to prefer Niger seed to peanuts, although the Greater spotted woodpecker seems intent on chasing them off his peanuts.
We came to Ireland at the height of that Boom and were amazed at the number of new houses and the number of newly-coloured houses - and how prosperous everything looked. Sad that things have gone downhill.
Just popped over from Tom's site.

    1. Spring! Snapdragon
It's more like a extension of winter with a sprinkling of cold sunny days.
Wear layers of warm clothing that can be removed just in case we get an early bout of heat like last year. Unfortunately it ended with weeks of cold rain......am being realistic for it is not that I wish to depress you :)

  10. Spring might already have arrived and you may even have cut the lawn, but don’t put away the hat and scarf just yet - winter is set to have its final say.
Forecasters have warned of snow and sub zero temperatures starting tomorrow and continuing into next week.
The east of Leinster should expect a “dusting of snow”, according to Met Eireann who say temperatures will fall to minus four degrees Celsius overnight tomorrow.

On Monday, another extremetly cold day is forecast with some wintry showers continuing to feed into Leinster, Munster and east Ulster.
There will be some snow accumulations on lower levels, but amounts will be fairly small, the national forecaster added.
With temperatures falling as low as -6 degrees, a severe frost is expected on Monday night.
Tuesday will also be cold, while temperatures will rise slightly by Wednesday.
